MELANOTAN -MT2- 10MG provides Melanotan II as lyophilized powder in a 3 mL vial.
Melanocortin Receptor Pharmacology
Melanotan II is recognized as a key tool compound for studying the melanocortin receptor (MCR) family. A 2024 review of recommended MCR tool compounds described MT-II as a potent nonselective agonist at MC1R, MC3R, MC4R, and MC5R, noting its historical importance as a scaffold for structure-activity relationship studies and its continued use in validating melanocortin receptor cell lines and characterizing cryo-EM receptor structures [1].
Selected Nonclinical Research
Nucleus Accumbens Feeding Paradigm (Mouse, 2022)
Eliason et al. (2022) examined the effects of MT-II delivered to the nucleus accumbens (NAcc) of male C57BL/6J mice using both home-cage and operant food self-administration paradigms. The investigators reported that MT-II decreased both consumptive and appetitive responding for standard chow. Conditioned taste avoidance was not observed, and no changes in metabolic rate parameters were detected, suggesting the observed effects on ingestive behavior were not attributable to aversion or altered metabolism in this model [2].
Chronic Unpredictable Stress Model (Rat, 2024)
Inozemtseva et al. (2024) investigated MT-II alongside Semax in a chronic unpredictable stress (CUS) paradigm using male Sprague-Dawley rats. The authors reported that MT-II-treated stressed rats showed differences from vehicle-treated stressed controls in sucrose preference scores, body-weight gain, adrenal mass, and hippocampal BDNF levels. No differences in forced swim test immobility were detected between groups [3].
